If you know me well, you know that I absolutely love hymns. I may be one of the few in my generation, but there’s nothing like them to me. Their melodies soothe me, and their complete theological thoughts teach me and bring me peace. My favorite hymn for a while has been “In the Garden.” The lyrics begin, “I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses….”
If there is any lyric that encapsulates my devotional time with the LORD these days, it’s this one. One of my greatest joys these days is the moment alone on a weekday morning while my son naps to pour my heart out to my God. These times are filled with less pretense and “supposed-tos,” as I no longer have the energy to pretend with God. You know what I mean? I don’t have the energy or time to be seek to please in an inauthentic way. So, whether this time lasts five minutes or an hour, it is the sweetest and most purposeful time of my day.
I am so grateful that the LORD commits to being found when we seek Him. He has truly been my Lifeline in a real sense as a mom. I couldn’t be more in love with Him….
